Why a Career in Business?

why a career in business 300x200 Why a Career in Business? Some new graduates are doubtful about the business climate today. They believe it is too cut-throat and dishonest. They believe many businesses do harm to people and the environment in a constant yearning for greater profits. So why pursue a career in business? Is business ruined? It isn’t, and that’s because of you. Yes, you! You believe in business with a purpose. You believe in people before profits, so let’s look at how you can structure a business in such a way that it makes you feel good about your work, not just the money you make.

When, as an entrepeneur, you structure your business solely around profits, you will lose out. You want to concentrate more on the concept of “value creation.” That’s right, as an entrepreneur you can create value in many ways that aren’t reflected in quarterly statements. Wall Street moguls (and many of the business people in the past few years who have nearly ruined the business climate for the rest of us) often think in terms of short-term gains. Clients like to see short-term gains, so they make business people look good. But they do not, in essence create true value. Look for long-term goals in your business career and you will find that you often help others with your endeavors. The biggest challenge you’ll face is ensuring that others don’t expect “quick fixes” and “magic money,” like they get from those short-term planners.
