US News and World Report has recently ranked the best schools to attend for your MBA. Even if you think your grades, or your finances, may not allow you to get into the number one school on the list, it is worth looking at these top ranked schools and considering applying. After all, once you get that diploma, you won’t be doing it again. It’s hard work and you want the results to really make you shine among the other applicants for any job. So let’s look at those top-ranked schools in order:
- Harvard University
- Stanford University
- Northwestern University
- University of Pennsylvania
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- University of Chicago
- University of California- Berkeley
- Dartmouth College
- Columbia University
- Yale University
But what does a high ranking mean, exactly? Well, the scores are a combination of several factors. One was a peer assessment score which is achieved by asking deans and directors of various business schools to rate one another’s schools on a scale of 1 to 5. Next, corporate recruiters were asked to rate the MBA programs according to their knowledge. Finally, the mean starting salaries of graduates of the schools were factored into the equation. So, while the rankings can be important to helping you get a job once you’ve graduated, will each of these schools fulfil the needs you have personally set out to achieve? That is impossible to tell by a mere ranking. Your own research and school visits are the only thing that can answer that question for you, as an individual.
