Students with an interest in business have several choices today. These three options have existed for a long time, although the third one is only now gaining in popularity.
- If you have established yourself as a good to great student in your high school, then take the requisite tests, and apply on time, you may make it into a top college or university. Be sure to apply for any scholarships that may apply to you. If you can afford the time and money to attend Harvard, Yale, Wharton, or any other top business school, your career is off to a great start.
- Attendance at a community college or specialized business career school is another excellent choice that can give you great credentials. Sure, private business schools do not have the cache of an ivy league school, but the education they provide is concentrated, elective free, and can often be very good. If you attend one of these schools, distinguish yourself with internships, special projects, and awards.
- Apprenticeship is another business career opportunity that is gaining in popularity. Not all who aspire to business are great in a school setting, but that doesn’t mean they can’t succeed. After all, business is about making intuitive decisions with clients and shareholders in mind. That means building relationships. If you can find a company that will take you as an intern or apprentice and you strive each day to prove your mettle, this could be a great introduction to the world of business.
