If you are considering attending a business career training institute instead of graduate school, there are a lot of choices out there. Some of these institutes are actually excellent schools: they are organized and efficient and can offer you excellent up-to-the-minute training while other slog away trying to earn an MBA unnecessarily. After all, the name of the game is getting that job, isn’t it? If the jobs in your area call for specific training, but not for an MBA, then why waste time in college?
When you assess a business career training instutitue, you should look at a variety of factors, namely:
- Areas of study
- Certifications offered
- Degrees offered
- Accreditation
First of all, like any business student, you should know what areas of the business world most fascinate you and therefore what field or subfield you would like to specialize in. Does your training institute offer that? Secondly, your training institute should offer classes that are compatible with getting a college degree. It may be an accredited college, in which case you can obtain your degree right there, or it may simply offer classes that provide college credits you can transfer to your local university. Either way, getting a degree is, eventually, going to become important, even if you don’t need one to land your first job, so don’t neglect that long-term goal when deciding which business career institute to attend.
