How to Analyze Careers with Business Degrees

careers with business degrees 300x221 How to Analyze Careers with Business DegreesOnce you have your business degree, you will apply for numerous positions. With any luck, you’ll get quite a few offers and then you’ll have to choose. To do so, be sure you apply the right criteria to deciding if this is a hot career or if it is something that could be on its way out in a few years.

Here are the criteria you should look for:

  1. Demand level
  2. Range of salary
  3. Education sponsorship
  4. Innovation potential

Once you have determined that the job is in high demand, you should begin your process of consideration. Why does this matter? Basically because once you have taken the job and gained experience in the field, you want to know if it is going to be tough to switch to a new field if you decide to transfer out of that company for any reason. The salary is important for obvious reasons, but more important than that is the potential for the salary to increase. Is this a stingy company or do they have a track record for giving regular raises and bonuses. That is more important than the starting salary. You want your company to sponsor any professional development education you may need or want. A company that educates its workforce is one that will last long and have good human relations. And finally, your job should be one where you feel creative. You should have a chance to innovate, suggest ideas, and generally use your intellect. If they are going to try to get you to do the same thing day in and day out without any chance for innovation, the job is a no-go.

Remember: you have worked hard for that degree, so make sure you get a job and career that both rewards you and challenges you constantly.
