If you are in business and looking to make a horizontal move, or if you are a recent business school graduate seeking your first salaried position, it will be helpful to know which careers are up and coming right now. You may have started out in a specialty field that seemed interesting at the time but hasn’t turned out to be a growth field, or you may have majored in a particular concentration that was “hot” a few years ago, but is less so today. Never fear, new listings are always coming around to inform you of the fastest-growing jobs, and here is the latest one:
- Network systems and data communications analyst
- Physician assistant
- Computer software engineer, applications
- Computer software engineer, systems software
- Network and computer systems administrator
- Database administrator
- Physical therapist
- Medical scientist
- Occupational therapist
- College instructor
Some of these occupations fall firmly into the business category, such as “data communications analyst” and “software engineer,” while others step outside these bounds, including “physical therapist” and “college instructor.” But don’t be closed minded. Experience in business is an excellent background for the pursuit of a career as a college business teacher. It is also an excellent background for starting a successful physical therapy office. There are so many different avenues available to business men and women who wish to cash in on today’s fastest growing fields, that it would be a shame to overlook a new opportunity just because it may, at first, be outside your comfort zone.
