When you are considering a career in accounting, it is imperative that you select the right school. A degree from a high-profile school could result in you getting an excellent career position. Then again, there are many lower-tier schools that are less expensive and still offer an excellent education. You must select the perfect school for you in order to get off to a good start, so here are five steps to consider during your selection process.
- Know what the focus of your degree will be: what industry do you want to work in? Which business field is most interesting to you? What kind of company is your target?
- Use business school directories to find the best schools for your interests. Make a list of all the potential candidates.
- Decide whether you want a part-time or full-time program. Consider studying online or moving to a far-away campus for an University-style immersion. There are many different styles of education, so your next task is to decide which one will work best for your needs.
- In writing, compare each business school in terms of: academics, faculty, class size, teaching method, reputation, and tuition costs.
- Now that you have all of these criteria established, you should be able to narrow down your choices to just the five or six schools you want to apply to. Good luck.
