Now that you have your business degree, it’s time to get your first job. But how do you know you’ll be upwardly mobile? As an intern or an entry-level worker, you could get stuck being somebody’s assistant interminably if you don’t manage to make a name for yourself right away. The key is to specialize.
While in college, the best thing to do is get a career in something very specific. For instance: not just finance, but “corporate finance,” “financial planning” etc. Your degree should point you in a specific direction where you can excel in a way that less specialized workers will not. Once you have landed that job, take these tips to make sure you rise to the top right away:
- Network constantly
- Volunteer to help with projects
- Display your expertise as much as possible
- Dress for success
