- Show you have experience. That means taking on an internship, academic project, or summer job. Your university or college should be able to help you get started with this.
- Select a specialty. Are you interested in public accounting, management accounting or forensic accounting? There are many more sub-specialites as well. The more you focus, the more likely you are to be a “real find” for the right company.
- Know more than your field. If you take course offerings outside your specialty, it shows you have a broad range of knowledge and good overall head for business.
- Finally, learning a language can be invaluable. It sets you up for opportunities on the international stage, which is a very lucrative and fascinating field of business.
